In 1535, the small fishing village of Altona was founded in Northern Germany, initially posing no threat to its long-established neighbor, Hamburg. However, Altona grew rapidly, and a fierce rivalry emerged between the two cities, each constantly trying to outdo the other. Rival Cities is a two-player game by Andreas Steding, setting the cities of Hamburg and Altona in a competitive race to dominate the other in 16th century Germany.

Players must balance a multitude of strategies to outwit their opponent.
