When Walter White Sr., a struggling high-school chemistry teacher from Albuquerque, is diagnosed with stage III lung cancer he is forced to take extreme measures to financially support his family. White teams up with a former student, Jesse Pinkman and the two begin manufacturing and selling methamphetamine. As White becomes a major player in the drug trade he takes on the persona of Heisenberg and transforms into a violent kingpin and ruthless drug lord.
